Club Announcement: Ban on Micro Shin Pads
In recent years, micro shin pads—ultra-small pads covering only a portion of the shin—have become increasingly popular, particularly among professional players. While these pads offer greater freedom of movement and reduced weight, they provide only limited protection and often do not meet league safety standards.
Effective immediately, our club will no longer permit the use of micro shin pads during training or matches.
This decision aligns with guidance from local Football Associations and follows the actions of several clubs across the UK. Official regulations require that shin guards provide “reasonable protection” and be fully covered by socks. Micro shin pads rarely achieve this, putting players at greater risk of injury.
What does this mean for players? - All players must wear shin pads that cover the full shin area. - Shin pads must offer reasonable protection and be fully covered by socks. - Players found wearing micro shin pads will not be permitted to participate until compliant equipment is worn.
This policy is in place to prioritise player safety We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
If you have any questions about suitable shin guards, please contact your coach or club officials.
Stay safe and play smart!
